Reservoirs across the country are now storing water up to 80 percent of their capacities or a total 64,759 million cubic metres, with the ones in the western region storing the highest amount of  water, up to 95 percent of their capacities, according to the latest storage water information from the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR).

Of the  64,759 million cubic metres of water stored, the ONWR said that 72 percent of them or 40,635 million cubic metres are usable.

The water currently stored in reservoirs and potential further capacity in the various regions is as follows:

·        Northern region: 20,207 million m3 (73%)

·        Northeastern region: 8,137 million m3 (67%)

·        Central region: 1,461 million m3 (78%)

·        Eastern region: 2,837 million m3 (90%)

·        Western region: 26,773 million m3 (95%)

·        Southern region: 5,344 million m3 (70%)

The ONWR forecasts that the southern northeast, eastern region and southern central region, including Bangkok and its peripherals, will experience more rain today, while isolated storms are forecast for tomorrow.

The mass of water moving down the Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai rivers into the Mae Klong is reducing. The dam in Mae Klong river is discharging 1,889m3/s.

Meanwhile, the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) has reported that it has increased the rate of discharge of water through the Chao Phraya Dam from 2,400m3/s to 2,500m3/s at 3am this morning.

The department advised people downstream of the dam to keep themselves abreast of the water situation.
