Custom chocolates adorned with the official summit emblem await arriving foreign delegates in their rooms, a small detail in a massive hospitality campaign designed to impress international visitors as Bangkok hosts one of the world's premier financial gatherings.
The Landmark Bangkok is one of 21 hotels officially designated to accommodate delegates attending the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings.
Worachada Tangkrachang, area director of sales and marketing at The Landmark Bangkok, said the hotel expects to host about 150 of the estimated 15,000 international participants attending the summit.
“Behind the scenes, preparation extends far beyond room reservations,” she said. “Hotels have adjusted restaurant operating hours, arranged dedicated shuttle transfers between hotels and the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) and trained staff to cater to a diversity of international guests.”
She further explained that “The high-profile event has boosted occupancy rates at participating hotels by 20 percentage points, a welcome respite for a tourism sector navigating external headwinds, including Middle East conflicts and volatile energy costs, which have particularly squeezed hotels dependent on overseas visitors.”
She said that the ultimate goal is, however, to turn summit attendees into repeat visitors long after the meetings conclude.
