Miss Universe Cambodia 2025, Thai Nearysocheata (also known as ‘Fiyata’) has revealed that she is ready to compete in the Miss Universe final in Thailand, despite ongoing tensions between the two countries.
The 24-year-old beauty queen, crowned just weeks ago, has confirmed her participation in the upcoming Miss Universe final, to be held on November 21st, according to the Khmer Times.
Despite political and military tensions along the border, Fiyata says her mission remains unchanged, namely to represent Cambodia with strength, dignity and cultural pride.
“Since I entered the competition, I knew in which country the competition would be held,” she said in a recent interview with the online news outlet, adding “I always told myself that, if I win the crown, the international stage cannot be without our Cambodian flag.”
She also said that, regardless of the challenges ahead, her determination to carry the Cambodian flag onto the global stage remains unshaken. She confirmed that she is bringing 63 outfits with her to the final.
Earlier, the Kampuchea Thmey Daily quoted her mother as expressing concern for her daughter’s safety, as Fiyata will be travelling alone to compete in Thailand.
“Thailand is becoming increasingly cruel now and it makes me worried about the safety of my daughter, who has to compete in Thailand all by herself,” her mother is reported to have said.
Fiyata has previously faced criticism on Thai social media for earlier remarks, in which she accused Thai forces of using chemical weapons during clashes with Cambodia.
