Insurgents launched multiple arson and grenade attacks in the southern Thai provinces of Yala and Songkhla early Wednesday morning, injuring three Myanmar nationals and damaging several surveillance cameras, utility poles, cell towers and a workers’ shelter.
Car tire burning was also reported in Panare district of Pattani province.
According to a police report from Thepa district in Songkhla province, an unknown number of insurgents fired two grenades from an M79 launcher into a workers’ shelter at the construction site of a Chinese goddess statue in Sakom sub-district.
The grenades wounded the three Myanmar nationals and extensively damaged a pickup truck and a building at the construction site.
Meanwhile, police in Yala province reported seven arson attacks on surveillance cameras and utility poles in Mueang, Raman, Bannang Sata and Than To districts. The attacks occurred between 4am and 6.30am.
