A South Korean TikToker has flown to Thailand and travelled directly to the contested Nong Chan village in Sa Kaeo province, where he offered moral support to Thai villagers and soldiers.
Park Tae-Ho, 34, was seen filming local Thai villagers hosting a lunch for Thai soldiers stationed at the border village.
He mentioned in his TikTok post that he wants to show the warmth and friendliness of Thai people and soldiers.
He participated in the lunch by donating 1,000 baht to the event’s fund. He even sang part of the Thai national anthem.
He filmed himself buying instant noodles at a local supermarket and giving them to the Thai soldiers.
In his TikTok posts, before arriving in Thailand, he expressed agreement with the decision to close border checkpoints with Cambodia.
In one of the videos, he showed a clip of Cambodian protesters stomping on the Thai flag. He appeared ready to do the same to a Cambodian flag, but changed his mind, saying it was not good thing to do.
His presence in Thailand and his posts have won praise from Thai netizens. Many major and online news outlets reported on his activities.
His TikTok account, Hou Alerta, has 4.95K followers and 1.1 million likes.
Meanwhile, a young Thai villager named ‘Film’ joined others in preparing traditional local food for the soldiers, including spicy minced pork salad (larb moo) and a large pot of vegetable curry with chicken, to serve at their operation post.
He stated that this was just the beginning, as the menu will vary in the coming days, to continue boosting morale and helping the soldiers stay energised in their duty of protecting the border area.
