The hopes of embattled Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn to return to the police service were dashed today by the general assembly of Supreme Administrative Court judges, who rejected his petition challenging the legitimacy of his dismissal from the service.
After several hours of deliberation today, the judges voted 49: 5 to reject Surachate’s petition, on the grounds that the Royal Thai Police order for his dismissal was not court ordered and is legitimate.
Surachate and his four subordinates were accused of involvement in the laundering of money for the BNK Master gambling network. He was placed under investigation which, eventually, resulted in his formal dismissal for ethical misconduct.
In June, the Police Commission unanimously voted to support his dismissal, as ordered by the acting police chief, Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet.
