Pheu Thai party member Prompong Nopparit is not giving up his attempt to end the political career of General Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath party, over his alleged ethical misconduct.
He claimed today that he has obtained information from members of the public indicating that General Prawit had allegedly failed to attend 13 parliamentary meetings without providing proper reasons.
Being absent from parliamentary meetings without proper reason, he said, is tantamount to betraying public trust, because MPs are paid by taxpayers for their work in parliament.
Prompong cited one case, on September 19, when Prawit applied for “business leave”, but flew to Nong Khai province to distribute relief materials to flood victims instead. Although donating relief supplies is a noble cause, Prompong said that it should not be done on a day when he was supposed to be attending a meeting in parliament.
Prompong said he will go to the office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) this Wednesday to submit a petition, demanding an investigation into the alleged ethical misconduct of General Prawit relating to parliamentary attendance record.
