Serial petitioner Ruangkrai Leekitwattana mailed a petition to the National Anti-Corruption Commission today, alleging that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra engaged in ethical misconduct by performing a “mini-heart” hand gesture during an official photo shoot at Government House last week.
Most of her Cabinet followed her lead, until a civil servant informed them that the gesture was inappropriate while wearing formal uniform. Paetongtarn then lowered her hands.
The photo shoot occurred before she led her cabinet members in a swearing-in ceremony before His Majesty the King.
In the petition, Ruangkrai asks the National Anti-Corruption Commission investigate whether the incident violated the charter regarding ethical misconduct and to submit its findings to the Supreme Court for a ruling.
The NACC is also asked to assess whether the incident negatively impacted the prime minister’s image and the public’s trust and belief in her.
