Pheu Thai candidate Sa-nga Prommuang won the by-election in Chiang Rai’s Constituency 7, after 94.74% of the votes had been counted last night.
He secured 43,229 votes, a wide margin over his rival from the People’s Party, Suthat Yala, who received 18,252 votes.
The by-election, held yesterday, covered 133,960 eligible voters across 285 polling stations in five districts: Chiang Saen, Chiang Khong, Doi Luang, Wiang Kaen, and Mae Chan.
It was called to replace Pichet Chueamuangpan, the former Pheu Thai MP and former deputy House Speaker, who was disqualified by the Constitutional Court and banned from politics for 10 years.
