Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has agreed to consider a complaint filed against the director-general of the Corrections Department, the chief doctor at the Police General Hospital and ten other officials for helping former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to stay in the hospital for six months, instead of in prison, despite not suffering any life-threatening conditions.
NACC spokesman Saroj Poengramphan said on Monday that the commission concurred that the complaint was supported by sufficient evidence to be accepted and to warrant an investigation.
The people under investigation will include:
- Sahakarn Petchnarin, director-general of the Corrections Department
- Charn Wachiradet, deputy director-general of the Corrections Department
- Sitthi Sutheewong, former deputy director-general of the Corrections Department
- Nattee Thongplad, commandant of Bangkok Remand Prison
Pol Lt-Gen Sophonrat Singhacharu, former chief doctor at Police General Hospital
Pol Lt-Gen Thaweesilp Wechvitarn, incumbent chief doctor at the Police General Hospital 
- Pol Maj-Gen Samart Muangsiri, the doctor who issued the medical certificate for Thaksin
