Thai fans can now register for free entry to the opening ceremony of the forthcoming 33rd SEA Games and other sports events, with registration having opened yesterday via the tournament’s official website, www.seagames2025.org
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) governor, Dr. Gongsak Yodmani, explained that free admission is part of the Thai government’s policy to allow citizens to attend the 2025 Games, scheduled to be held from December 9–20 in Bangkok, Chon Buri, and Songkhla, without charge.
Regarding the opening ceremony at Rajamangala National Stadium on December 9, Dr. Gongsak noted that only a limited number of tickets would be available due to partial closure of the stands.
“For the opening ceremony, attendance is limited to 20,000 spectators. Tickets cannot be made available at full venue capacity because a section of the stadium where the cauldron is located must remain closed.
“Of the available tickets, 10,000 are reserved for the general public to register first. Another 5,000 are allocated for schoolchildren, university students, and underprivileged individuals. The remaining 5,000 will be for VIP guests, organisers, and volunteers,” said Dr. Gongsak.
The SAT governor added that the registration system for free tickets to both the opening ceremony and team sports events is available concurrently.
“Fans can register for the opening ceremony via the Games’ official website. Once registration is complete, they will receive proof to identify themselves at the venue.
“Registration for team sports, such as football—which begins before the official start of the Games—also opened yesterday. The tourism and sports minister, Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, instructed that the registration system should be easily and equally accessible to the public.”
The 2025 SEA Games will feature 50 official sports, three demonstration disciplines (Air Sports, Flying Disc, and Tug of War), and one “value-added” sport (mixed martial arts), with a total of 574 gold medals at stake.
