The royal procession for the late Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, will start tomorrow at 4pm, the Bureau of the Royal Household Bureau announced today.
The Queen Mother passed away last night in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, age 93.
The royal remains will be moved from the hospital’s Bhumisirimangalanusorn Building to the Grand Palace, where they will be enshrined in the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall for royal merit-making ceremonies.
The procession will cover a distance of approximately 10 kilometres, from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, turning left onto Henri Dunant Road, then right onto Rama IV Road, passing Samyan Intersection, turning right onto Phaya Thai Road and left at Phaya Thai Intersection onto Si Ayutthaya Road.
The procession will pass the 901 Land Building and the Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram Temple, before turning left onto Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue, heading towards the Grand Palace.
Upon arrival, the royal procession will enter the Piman Rattaya Pavilion, before the royal remains are placed in the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall, in accordance with royal tradition and to bestow the highest honour.
Police have urged the public to avoid these roads during the procession.
