The Bureau of the Royal Household has announced the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, at the age of 93.
According to the announcement, Her Majesty had been receiving medical treatment at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital since September 7, 2019.
The medical team had been monitoring and treating various health conditions over the years.
On October 17, Her Majesty developed sepsis. Despite the doctors’ utmost efforts, her condition deteriorated.
Her Majesty passed away peacefully at 9.21pm on Friday, October 24, in the hospital.
His Majesty the King has commanded that the royal funeral rites be arranged with the highest honours, in accordance with royal tradition.
The royal urn will be placed at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace.
His Majesty has also decreed that a one-year mourning period be observed from the date of Her Majesty’s passing.
