The 72nd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair (BGJF) this week is expected to generate cash circulation of over 3.5 billion baht, underscoring its potential to be a major platform driving forward Thailand’s growing gem and jewelry sector.
Permanent Secretary for Commerce Vuttikrai Leewiraphan told the media of the bright prospects, saying that the event, held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok from September 9–13, is also anticipated to attract over 40,000 visitors.
A total of 1,106 firms, run by both Thai and foreign business operators, are showcasing their products at 2,628 booths during the five-day fair, along with skilled and specialized designers offering services to global brands and clients.
Vuttikrai stated that Thai exports of gems and jewelry reached over 8.18 billion US dollars during the first seven months of 2025, a remarkable 60.5% year-on-year increase, accounting for nearly 5% of the country’s total export value during the period.
In addition, more than 800,000 workers are employed in the sector nationwide, from upstream to downstream supply chains, reflecting its momentum to spur the Thai economy in the long run amid global challenges.
The BGJF has been ranked among the world’s top four gem and jewelry fairs and has become part of the Commerce Ministry’s master plans and mechanisms aimed at propelling and sustaining domestic economic growth, according to the senior official.
