Thai immigration police have decided to revoke the visas of 12 Chinese nationals arrested at a luxury pool villa in Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri yesterday, on charges of operating an unlicensed online lending service.
The 12 will also be declared persona non grata and deported back to China, said Pol Maj-Gen Chairith Anurith, commander of the third division of the Immigration Bureau.
He said that the Chinese gang used to operate in Dubai, but recently moved to Thailand and rented a luxury villa in Nong Pla Lai sub-district, to be used as a base for their illegal money lending operation.
Meanwhile, Pol Maj-Gen Thiradet Thumsutee, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said today that police confiscated 84 million baht in Tether stable coins from two Chinese citizens arrested on Wednesday, allegedly for being leaders of a scam call centre.
About 15 million baht in cash and valuables were also seized during the arrests in Hua Mark area of Bangkok.
Thiradet attributed the arrest of the two men to cooperation from the Chinese public security officials, who visited Thailand recently to address the problem of call centres in Myanmar and the trafficking of Chinese people to work there.
The police officer claimed that the two suspects were allegedly involved in the recruitment and trafficking of Chinese people, via Mae Sot district, to work in call centres in Myanmar.
