The opposition Palang Pracharath party has promised to investigate one of its members, former actor Rattapoom Tokongsup, who has been accused of demanding a Bt20 million under-the-table payment from iCon Group CEO Waratphol Waratvorakul.
Party spokesman, Pol Lt-Gen Piya Tavichai, said that the investigation would take a few days, adding that the former actor has not participated in any party activities since the general election in May last year.
Rattapoom told the media yesterday that he has done nothing wrong and is ready to cooperate during the investigation.
Meanwhile, Waratphol’s lawyer, Vitoon Keng-ngarn, told the media that iCon Group has never hired Rattapoom in a public relations role.
He claimed that the audio clip is genuine and unedited.
Yesterday, a lawyer for Kanchai Kamnerdploy, host of the popular “Hone Krasae” TV talk show, filed a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division against Panjarat, one of the iCon Group executives in police custody, and a former actor who allegedly demanded 20 million baht from the company with a promise he would arrange for her to appear on the TV program.
What sound like the voices of Panjarat and the former actor can be heard in the audio clips, which were leaked on social media.
The lawyer, Pornsak Wipas-arpanon, claims that the voices in the two audio clips are “clearly identifiable”.
