Miss Universe Cambodia 2025, Thai Neary Socheata (also known as ‘Fiyata’), arrived in Bangkok yesterday, despite her corporate sponsor’s withdrawal from her participation in the upcoming Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand.
On her Facebook page, she wrote, “I’ve arrived safely in Thailand. Thank you for the warm welcome, kindness and support from everyone. Your love truly means so much to me.”
‘Elevento9’, the company holding the Miss Universe Cambodia license, recently issued a statement announcing that it would not send a Cambodian contestant to the competition, citing concerns over the current situation between Cambodia and Thailand, which it said “has not yet returned to normal.”
The firm also explained that she had failed to attend a preparatory meeting to discuss participation guidelines, adding that, if there are any risks to the Cambodian representative or repercussions for either country, the company would not take responsibility.
Miss Universe Thailand host Nawat Itsaragrisil posted on his Facebook page welcoming the Cambodian contestant upon her arrival in Bangkok.
Held under the theme “The Grand Universe: The Power of Love, The Power of Thailand,” the event marks the fourth time Thailand has hosted the global beauty contest.
Activities will run through November 21 in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.
Apart from the Cambodian beauty queen, Nawat and reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark, welcomed 103 contestants, including Thailand’s own Praveena Singh, Miss Universe Thailand 2025.
