The mother of a man who fell to his death from an 18-storey building in the Cambodian border town of Poipet said she believed her son was deceived into working there, as he had told her he was going to work in Ratchaburi province.
Pinnapa Deeying, 64, has appealed for justice for her son, Alongkorn, and urged the police to uncover the truth behind his demise.
Viral CCTV footage, captured by a camera mounted on a neighboring building, showed a man falling from the building. The footage was initially published on the popular ‘Drama Addict’ Facebook page.
Poipet, a town in Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province, borders Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province.
Meanwhile, Thai cybercrime suppression police have expanded their investigation into the fatal fall to explore potential links to call center gangs.
Pol Lt-Gen Trairong Phiwpan, commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, stated today that he has instructed his officers to coordinate with immigration police and other relevant agencies to gather information about Alongkorn’s death and how he ended up at the building, which is known to house several call centers.
Pol Lt-Gen Yingyot Thepchamnong, commissioner of the Second Region Provincial Police, previously claimed that over 100 Thai nationals have been working in the 18-storey building.
