Chalermchai Kositpipat, founder of Rong Khun Temple, more commonly known as the "White Temple" in Chiang Rai, says he will allow people affected by the floods to park their cars at the temple free of charge.
The temple's parking lot can accommodate hundreds of vehicles and security guards will be provided, he said.
"My parking lots are huge. The temple is a bit far from downtown, but it is safe to park cars here. I will take the best care of the vehicles," he said in a live broadcast on his social media platforms.
He also offered moral support to the people of Chiang Rai, encouraging them to "fight on together, because the situation is quite serious."
The White Temple, a popular tourist attraction in Chiang Rai, was created and designed by Chalermchai, a national artist. It has been open to visitors since 1997.
