Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul flew to Pattani province this afternoon to meet with governors of 14 southern provinces and relevant agencies to discuss the flood situation and their preparedness and response plans.

As usual, the prime minister chaired a meeting of the Command Centre for Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation this morning to monitor and assess the latest flood situation nationwide, particularly in provinces still threatened by floodwaters.

Despite the long weekend, he said, relevant agencies and officials remained obligated to respond to the flooding and assist people still affected, particularly in Prachin Buri and Chachoengsao provinces.

Accompanied by Deputy Interior Minister Jeseth Thaised, Anutin flew to Pattani this afternoon, where he met with governors of 14 southern provinces to receive briefings on their flood response plans, preparedness and coordination with relevant agencies.

Nirat Pongsitthavorn, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, said Surat Thani recorded the heaviest rainfall in the South recently, at 92.5 millimetres.

In Bangkok, the heaviest rainfall today was recorded in Bang Bon district, at 44mm.

Meanwhile, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that 36,899 households had received flood compensation totalling 302 million baht from the state to date.

Of these, 29,411 households in Bangkok, Saraburi, Rayong, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Ayutthaya had each received 9,000 baht, while another 7,488 households had each received 5,000 baht.
