Police seized about 500kg of crystal methamphetamine (“Ice”) and arrested two suspects after stopping two cars in Muang district of the northeastern province of Khon Kaen on September 4.
Anti-narcotics officers from the 4th Provincial Police Bureau tailed a Toyota Fortuner and a Honda Jazz from Udon Thani to Khon Kaen until they stopped in Mittraphap Soi 27 in Muang district.
The police team then moved in and arrested the two suspects. A search of the vehicles found a sack containing 500 packs of “Ice” in the Honda.
Police said the seizure was part of a recent crackdown on an illegal narcotics trafficking gang responsible for smuggling “Ice” from the Northeast to Bangkok for sale.
The two suspects said they were only couriers hired to pick up the drugs in Udon Thani and deliver them to a customer in the capital.
