The State Railways of Thailand (SRT) has cancelled ten train services in both directions between Bangkok and five destinations in the southernmost provinces today due to heavy flooding.
The Transport Company also suspended bus services from Bangkok to Hat Yai, Satun, Yala, Pattani and Su-Ngai Kolok until the flood situation has improved.
The suspended bus routes are:
• 988 - between Bangkok and Satun
• 992 - between Bangkok and Hat Yai
• 987 - between Bangkok and Yala
• 9917 - between Bangkok and Pattani
• 9917 - between Bangkok and Su-Ngai Kolok
Passengers who have bought the tickets can ask for a refund at SRT ticket booths at all train stations. The train services suspended today are:
• Special express train No 31/32 - Bangkok-Hat Yai-Bangkok
• Special express train No 37/38 - Bangkok-Su-Ngai Kolok-Bangkok
• Special express train No 45/46 - Bangkok-Padang Besar-Bangkok
• Rapid train No 169/170 - Bangkok-Yala-Bangkok
• Rapid train No 171/172 - Bangkok-Su-Ngai Kolok-Bangkok
The air service to Hat Yai remains functional, with a taxi service from the airport up to Thai Vasadu intersection only.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul flew to Hat Yai this afternoon to observe the flood situation and flood relief operations.
Before leaving for Hat Yai, he said that he had instructed the governors of all southern provinces affected by flooding not to be worried, assuring them that there is sufficient budget to assist flood victims.
In Hat Yai, which is heavily flooded, evacuation shelters have been set up in several municipal areas, including Hat Yai, Ban Phru, Kuan Lung, Khor Hong and Thung Tam Sao.
The southern east coast meteorological centre announced today the ten areas with the most rainfall in the 24 hours up to 7am today:
• Mai Kaen district of Pattani, 441.0mm
• Yarang district of Pattani, 423.4mm
• Sai Buri district of Pattani, 382.6mm
• Hat Yai airport, 370.2mm
• Mayo district of Pattani, 366.5mm
• Nong Chik district of Pattani, 315.0mm
• Tambon Khor Hong in Hat Yai, 306.5 mm
• Na Mom district of Songkhla, 304.5mm
• Panareh district of Pattani, 296.6mm
• Pattani meteorological station, 291.1mm
Meanwhile, eight districts of Trang province are submerged, affecting over 6,000 households and water is steadily rising.
Eight districts of Surat Thani province are also under water.
