The Constitutional Court has ruled Senator Somchai Lenglak has lost his parliamentary status, because he was not qualified to contest senatorial election after the Supreme Court withdrew his voting rights for ten years for involvement in vote buying during the general election in 2023.
The Constitutional Court’s ruling, which was read yesterday, was in response to a application, filed by the Election Commission, to disqualify Somchai as a senator.
Somchai was among the senators in the freelancer professional group.
As a result of the charter court’s ruling, Tananpong Wongmusalee, the first reservist, will be automatically moved up to take the now vacant senate seat.
