Thailand’s Commerce Ministry reports that foreign direct investment (FDI) in Thailand reached over 324 billion baht in 2025, a 42% year-on-year increase, with investors from Singapore topping the list in terms of the investment value.
Poonpong Naiyanapaporn, Director-General of the ministry’s Department of Business Development, told the media this week that approved FDI plans by Singapore based investors reached over 103 billion baht, followed by those from Japan, China, Hong Kong and the United States with over 85 billion baht, over 35 billion baht, over 14 billion baht and over 5 billion baht respectively.
In terms of the number of investors, however, Poonpong said that Japanese applicants topped the list at 186, followed by Singaporean, Chinese, American and Hong Kong applicants at 167, 152, 148 and 113 respectively.
The overall FDI plans given the green light in 2025 to invest in the domestic economy under the Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542 (1999) create a total of nearly 6,650 jobs, a 32% rise from a year earlier.
Continued increases in overall FDI values over the past five years, from over 82 billion baht in 2021, nearly 130 billion baht in 2022-2023, nearly 230 billion baht in 2024 and over 324 billion baht in 2025, reflect foreign investor confidence in the Thai economy as a key regional production and market hub, noted the director-general, who is also the Secretary to the Foreign Business Committee.
