The no confidence debate will be held from December 7 to 11, with four days for the debate and one day for voting.

The whips of the government, the coalition and opposition parties agreed on the five-day timeframe at a meeting in parliament today, under the chairmanship of Mallika Jirapunvanit, the first Deputy House Speaker.

The timeframe is a compromise, after opposition parties had earlier demanded five days for the debate and one day for voting while the government and coalition parties opted for three days for the debate.

Under the agreement today, there will be 72 hours for the debate. During the first three days, there will be 19 hours a day, from 8am to 3am of the next morning. On the fourth day, though, the debate will start at 8am and end at 11pm.

The opposition will be allocated 51 hours for debate, while the government and coalition parties will get 17 hours to respond. The chair of the meetings will be allocated four hours.

Voting is set for October 11, starting at 10am.

Korrawee Prissananantakul, the government’s chief whip, said that all the whips are satisfied with the 4+1 timeframe and allocation of the time for debate.

Eighteen ministers, including the prime minister, will be targeted by the Opposition in the censure debate.
