People living along the Pasak River have been advised to brace for possible river overflows from tomorrow, as the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) plans to increase the discharge rate of water through the Pasak Chonlasit Dam.
The department said it will discharge 115m3/s, or 9.97 million cubic metres per day tomorrow, 230m3/s, or 19.87 million cubic metres per day, on October 1 and 400m3/s, or 34.56 million cubic metres per day, on October 2.
The increased discharge will raise the level of the Pasak River, which is currently 4 metres deep.
The department offered an assurance that the river will not breach its banks, but warned riparian communities to monitor the water situation closely.
Meanwhile, the Tha Chin River has overflowed its banks, inundating many riverside houses in Sam Phran district of Nakhon Pathom, forcing residents to move their valuables to higher ground.
The water level, measured at T14 station near Boonrathprachanuwat Bridge this morning, was 46cm above the river banks.
Five subdistricts in Nakhon Chaisri district, one subdistrict in Sam Phran, eight subdistricts in Don Toom district, 14 subdistricts in Bang Len district and two subdistricts in and the municipal area of Muang district have been declared flood disaster zones.
