The Ratchathewi overpass will be closed from 10pm tonight until April 30, 2028, to allow for the construction of the Bang Khun Non-Thailand Cultural Centre section of the Orange Line train project, according to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
Phetchaburi Road, both inbound and outbound, will remain open to motorists, but they are advised to use other routes to avoid the inevitable congestion close to the Ratchathewi intersection.
Three optional routes are recommended for travel to eastern Bangkok. The first is for motorists from Nakhon Sawan Road. They are advised to turn right at Nang Lerng intersection into Phitsanulok Road; turn left at Yommaraj intersection onto the expressway at Yommaraj toll plaza and to exit onto Rama 9 Road.
The second route is for motorists from Nakhon Sawan Road. They are advised to turn right at Nang Lerng intersection into Phitsanulok Road and turn left at Urupong intersection onto Rama 6 Road and turn right at Si Ayutthaya intersection into Si Ayutthaya Road, heading to Chaturathit and Rama 9 roads, and turn right into Praditmanutham Road.
The third route is for motorists travelling from Ratchadamnoen Nok Road. They are advised to turn right at the Equestrian statue into Si Ayutthaya Road, turn left at Benchamabophit Temple intersection onto Rama 5 Road, turn right into Rajavithi Road, around the Victory Monument to Din Daeng and Rama 9 roads and then turn right at Rama 9 intersection onto Praditmanutham Road.
