The Thai military has deployed ground troops, supported by tanks and war planes, against Cambodian forces at ten locations along the Thai-Cambodian border in Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani provinces today, in an operation they call “Yuttha Bodin.”
Here is the Second Army Region’s summary of today’s actions:
• Thai and Cambodian forces are engaged in a stand-off at the Chong Bok pass in Nam Yuen district of Ubon Ratchathani.
• At the An Ma pass in Ubon Ratchathani, F-16s bombed Cambodian military positions.
• In the Samtae area in Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket, Thai army tanks attacked the Cambodian position.
• At Phu Phi checkpoint, near Don Tual Temple in Si Sa Ket province, Thai F-16s bombed Cambodian forces.
• At Khao Sattasom checkpoint, in Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket, two Cambodian tanks were destroyed.
• At Preah Vihear Temple, the Thai army launched tank and infantry assaults on Cambodian forces.
• In Phu Makhua Kanatharalak district of Si Sa Ket, Thai troops destroyed part of the Cambodian cable car.
• In Chong Chom pass, in Surin province, the two opposing are remain engaged.
• At Ta Kwai Temple, in Surin, Thai troops have launched a second attack on Cambodian positions.
• At Ta Muen Thom Temple, in Phanom Dongrak district of Surin, Cambodian troops have been trying to force Thai troops from the temple.
