The 20th Asian Games officially kicked off on Saturday with a grand opening ceremony at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, marking the start of the regions premier multi-sport event running through October 4.

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya joined the parade of Thai athletes during the ceremony, highlighting Thailand's prominent presence at the Games.
Equestrian athlete Chalermcharn Yotviriyapanit and women's volleyball star Thatdao Nuekjang had the honour of carrying the national flag, leading the 690-strong Thai delegation into the stadium.
