Thai Liberal party leader Sereepisuth Temeeyaves has urged voters to let go of the Pheu Thai party’s election campaign promise not to work with General Prayut Chan-o-cha of United Thai Nation party or General Prawit Wongsuwan of Palang Pracharath party, aka the “Two Uncles”, if they want a new government to be formed quickly.

The former national police chief said that the election campaign is over and what the Pheu Thai party pledged then was intended to encourage people to vote “for the now”.

He added, however, that it is now the time for the selection of the prime minister and the formation of a new government and, therefore, people should be more open minded and forget the promises made regarding the two military-linked parties.

He also said that Prayut has already left the United Thai Nation party, asking rhetorically “Do we want to drive him into the corner to become a permanent foe?”

Regarding the Palang Pracharath party, Sereepisuth said its leader, Prawit, has already conceded defeat, after the party won only 40 seats in the House.

He said he merely wants the people to think constructively and not to close the door so tightly that the country cannot move forward.

The Thai Liberal party is one of the eight coalition parties, being led by Pheu Thai to form a new government
