Bhumjaithai party Leader Anutin Charnvirakul took the oath of allegiance before a portrait of His Majesty King at the party’s head office at about noon today, after a Royal Command, appointing him Thailand’s 32nd prime minister, was hand-delivered to him by Arpath Sakanan, the secretary general of the House.
Present at the oath-taking today were Anutin’s family, secretary-general of the Bhumjaithai party, representatives of the Kla Tham and Palang Pracharath parties and rebel MPs from the United Thai Nation and Pheu Thai parties.
Meanwhile, a NIDA Poll released today shows that 59.24% of respondents are in favour of a House dissolution as quickly as possible, while 27.17% agree that the House should be dissolved in four months, as demanded by the People’s party.
The poll also shows that 37.56% of the respondents said they really want the charter to be amended, while 28.17% said it does not need amending.
The poll said 74.39% of the respondents want the charter to be amended section by section, while 24.71% want a whole new charter.
The NIDA Poll was based on phone interviews with 1,310 people aged over 18, of various educational backgrounds and professions, on September 4 and 5.
