Police and officials from various agencies raided the office of Kong Salak Plus Company today (Monday), searching for additional evidence against the online lottery platform, which sells government lottery tickets.

Led by Pol Lt-Gen Prachuab Wongsuk, the assistant national police chief, police officers and officials from the Department of Special Investigation, Anti-Money Laundering Office, Revenue Department and the Government Lottery Office (GLO) searched the office, located in SSP Tower 1 Building on Sukhumvit Soi 63 in Wattana district.

The assistant national police chief said the search was in response to a complaint filed by the Government Lottery Office, claiming that the online lottery vendor had violated the consumer protection law by allegedly selling lottery tickets at over 80 baht per ticket.

GLO Director Noon Sansanakhom, who joined the raid, claimed that the GLO had never granted the company the right to sell lottery tickets, adding that online sales cannot prevent underage customers from buying the lottery.

Panthawat Nakvisut, an executive of Kong Salak Plus, was not in the office during the raid. He told the media in the afternoon, however, that he is not worried about the police action, claiming that the company had not broken any laws.

He assured customers who have bought lottery tickets from his company that they will not be affected and will get paid if they win in tomorrow’s draw.

Regarding the accusation that the company had bought up online lottery tickets from small retailers, Panthawat claimed that it was a common practice, engaged in by all major retailers, even before the founding of his company.

On the accusation that the company had sold overpriced tickets online, he explained that they did not sell overpriced tickets, but only charged a small service fee.
