Worsening air quality in Bangkok, with excessive PM2.5 dust in all districts

Air quality in Bangkok deteriorated today, with the air over the entire city containing excessive PM2.5 dust, measured at 50.8µg/m³ (microns) on average against the safe level of 37.5µg/m³, the Air Quality Information of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported today.


The 12 districts with level of PM2.5 dust exceeding today’s average are:


• Sathorn, 65.8µg/m³

• Bang Rak, 61.7µg/m³

• Lat Krabang, 60.1µg/m³

• Min Buri, 59.5µg/m³

• Nong Khaem, 56.8µg/m³

• Taling Chan, 56.3µg/m³

• Klong Sam Wa, 56.2µg/m³

• Ratchathewi, 56.1µg/m³

• Pathumwan, 55.2µg/m³

• Tawee Wattana, 55µg/m³

• Yan Nawa, 54.8µg/m³

• Bang Khor Laem, 54.4µg/m³


The levels of PM2.5 were measured at between 47.7µg/m³ and 53.9µg/m³ in northern Bangkok, 38.2-60.1 µg/m³ in eastern Bangkok, 39.7-56.1µg/m³ in central Bangkok.


Air quality now poses a threat to health, according to the BMA’s Air Quality Information Centre, as it advised people in Bangkok to protect themselves by wearing face masks while they are outdoors.
