Still trying to recover from last month’s devastating flooding, riverside residents in Mae Sai sub-district have been advised to evacuate in anticipation of yet another round of flooding from overflows from the Sai River, due to heavy rainfall.
The Tambon Mae Sai municipal office announced yesterday that the forecast is for heavy to very heavy rain until this Thursday, which may cause the water level in the Sai River to rise and flood vulnerable areas along its banks.
People living in such areas are advised to move and stay with their relatives elsewhere or into community shelters or temples.
It was disclosed most of the river-side houses remain, however, unoccupied because they have sustained heavy damage in the recent flooding and many are still full of mud.
