The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is now opening vaccination registration for its elderly population via the Mor Prom app, amid widespread indefinite postponements of appointments this week.
People aged at least 60, living in Bangkok, can now register to be vaccinated at one of more than 100 large hospitals in Bangkok, which have been instructed by the BMA to prioritise them and arrange appointments on a first come first served basis.
Deputy BMA Governor Police Lieutenant General Sophon Pisutthiwong said that, as the BMA has not received the expected amount of vaccines, its vaccine committee has agreed to prioritise groups of people to receive the limited amount of vaccines this month, with AstraZeneca being the main vaccine to be administered.
Bangkokians to be inoculated this month will be those who have already received the first AstraZeneca dose, the elderly with any of seven underlying diseases who have registered for their vaccination at hospitals, medical personnel who have not yet been vaccinated and the general public who have registered at 25 vaccination sites outside hospitals.
The seven diseases given priority include chronic respiratory disease, heart and blood vessel disease, chronic kidney disease, cerebrovascular disease or stroke, cancer, obesity and diabetes.
Registrations through the Mor Prom app were previously closed, in favour of the Thai Ruam Jai website, the Pao Tang app and selected convenience stores.
