Phumtham said he condemns Cambodia's actions in the strongest terms, stating that the attacks, including the bombing of a convenience store at a petrol station in Si Sa Ket province yesterday, deliberately targeted civilians.

8am - The Thai military is claiming that Cambodian strongman Hun Sen is behind the Cambodian artillery and rocket attacks on civilian targets in Thailand.
Maj-Gen Vithai Laithomya, spokesman for the Thai armed forces, said that the Thai military has obtained evidence indicating that Hun Sen was instrumental in the Cambodian military’s use of long-range weaponry in indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets on Thursday, including communities, hospitals and schools.

7.30am - Thailand, host of the 2025 SEA Games, is considering banning Cambodia from participating, out of concern for the safety of Cambodian athletes travelling to Thailand, as both countries remain locked in deadly border clashes.
Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong said Thai authorities will need to deliberate about Cambodia’s participation in the games, scheduled for this December, and acknowledged that a boycott of Phnom Penh is a possibility.

7am - UN Secretary General António Guterres has urged both nations to exercise maximum restraint, a UN spokesperson said Thursday.
“The Secretary General is following with concern reports of armed clashes at the border between Cambodia and Thailand. He urges both sides to exercise maximum restraint and address any issues through dialogue and in a spirit of good neighbourliness, with a view to finding a lasting solution to the dispute,” said Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the UN chief, during a daily briefing.

6pm - The Thai Public Health Minister has expressed deep anger and sorrow over the “inhumane attack” launched by Cambodian forces on Phanom Dong Rak Hospital in Surin province and on civilian areas in several other provinces along the border.
This act is not only a threat to national sovereignty but also a grave violation of human values, said Somsak Thepsutin in a statement.

5.30pm - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim called on Thailand and Cambodia to "stand down" Thursday following deadly border clashes between the two Southeast Asian neighbours.
"The least we can expect is for them to stand down and hopefully try to enter into negotiation," said Anwar, whose country currently chairs the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) which includes Cambodia and Thailand.

5.10pm – Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai today condemned unprovoked random attacks with heavy weapons by Cambodian forces that have killed at least 11 civilians in four border provinces.
He said 10 of those killed were civilians and the other was a soldier. Another 28, including four soldiers were injured.

4.30pm – Cambodia has asked the UN Security Council to convene an urgent meeting to halt, what it described as, Thailand’s “grave” aggression, which it claims threatens peace and stability in the region.

July 24, Thai armed forces launched unprovoked, premeditated and deliberate attacks on Cambodian positions along the border, including at the Ta Muen Thom and Ta Kwai temples, and in the Mom Bei area.

3.10pm - China said Thursday it was "deeply concerned" over deadly clashes between Cambodia and Thailand, which mark a dramatic escalation of a long-running border row between the two neighbours.

3pm - Cambodian military attacks on Thailand, which have been targeting civilians, communities and hospitals, have killed nine people so far, including an eight-year-old child, according to Col Richa Suksuwan, deputy spokesperson for the Thai Army.
The army strongly condemns these violent actions by Cambodian forces, Richa said, adding that it maintains its commitment to defending Thailand’s sovereignty and protecting its people from violations of international humanitarian principles.

1.15pm - Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has called on Cambodian citizens to remain calm and place their full trust in his government amid the escalating tensions with Thailand.
The Khmer Times said the appeal was made following what it described as attacks by Thai troops on Cambodian military positions at Ta Moan Thom and Ta Krabei temples in Oddar Meanchey province, as well as the Mom Bei area in Preah Vihear province.

10.40am: The death toll of Thais from cross-border attacks by Cambodian troops rose to five today, after an artillery shell fired from Cambodia struck a convenience store inside a petrol station in Ban Phue, Kantharalak district, Sisaket province, killing three people and injuring 14 others.

9am - Deputy Defence Minister Gen Nattaphon Nakpanich said this morning that time for talks with Cambodia has well passed as Thai and Cambodian armed forces clashed along several areas on their border.
He said Cambodia had ignored all offers by Thailand for dialogue to lessen tensions over disputed border areas and the opening of border check-points.

8am - The Cambodian government has announced it is downgrading diplomatic relations with Thailand to the “lowest level” in response to Bangkok’s decision to recall its ambassador to Phnom Penh, according to Cambodian media.
Fresh News reported that diplomatic relations with Thailand will be reduced to the level of second secretary while all Thai diplomatic personnel in Phnom Penh have been asked to leave.

-The Thai army has decided to launch an operation, known as the ‘Chakraphong Phuvanaat military strategy’, to deal with Cambodia following another landmine detonation in the Chong An Ma pass, in Nam Yuen district of Ubon Ratchathani province today, in which a Thai soldier lost a leg.
The ‘Chakraphong Phuvanaat strategy’ was originally drawn up by General Chalermphol Srisawat, former commander of the Thai armed forces and a decorated cavalry officer, when he served as the chief of the Army Directorate of Operations.
