Survey reveals Chim-Shop-Chai scheme to be the Thai people’s favourite government project

The Thai government’s “Chim-Shop-Chai” (Eat-Shop-Spend) domestic tourism promotion scheme has won the approval of most respondents to a Bangkok Poll, conducted by the Research Centre of Bangkok University.

The same opinion survey revealed Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul as the top rated cabinet minister for his outstanding performance during the first three months of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s current administration.

Bangkok Poll gauged the opinions of 1,199 respondents, in different occupations and from all regions of the country, about their most favoured government projects and ministers.

The results show 31.5% of those surveyed rated the Government’s “Chimp-Shop-Chai” scheme as their favourite, followed by 30.7% preferring the state welfare card project for the poor, 28.4% chose the medicinal cannabis project, 28.1% chose the development of medical volunteers in rural areas and 25.9% selected the high-speed train linking Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang and U-Tapao airports.

When asked about Cabinet Minsters’ performance, 43.6% voted for Mr. Anutin, followed by Prime Minister Prayut’s 25.4%, Finance Minister Uttama Savanaya’s 19.6%, Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit’s 17.5% and Deputy Agriculture Minister Mananya Thaiseth’s 15.3%.
