Noppadon Pattama, former foreign minister and legal adviser to Thaksin Shinawatra, has announced his resignation from the Pheu Thai Party, effective today.
In a Facebook post, Noppadon, a long-time party member, said he decided to leave Pheu Thai to pursue his legal career and contribute to the country.
He thanked Thaksin, Thaksin’s former wife Khunying Potjaman Damapong, and the Pheu Thai Party, and wished fellow MPs and members success.
The party is facing internal turmoil following several setbacks, including the removal of former prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office by the Constitutional Court.
Several Pheu Thai MPs also broke ranks yesterday, voting in support of Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul as the new prime minister, instead of their own candidate, Chaikasem Nitisiri.
