The Pheu Thai party is gearing up for the next general election, with an ambitious plan to overhaul itself under the leadership of former prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
The party’s secretary-general, Sorawong Thienthong, said today that the party will launch a political event next Tuesday, at the party’s head office, under the theme of “Overhaul Pheu Thai, Overhaul Thailand”.
He added that the event is not only about introducing the party’s first batch of election candidates to the public, but party leader Paetongtarn will give a keynote speech about the party’s vision for the future of Thailand, which could bring sustainable changes to the country and respond to the aspirations of the people.
Sorawong said that the party has, in the past, received both positive and negative comments from members of the public and has tried to learn some lessons from them.
He then urged members of the public to participate in or to monitor this event through the party’s Facebook page.
Meanwhile, former PM’s Office minister Jakrapob Penkair said that the party’s fate depends upon its acceptance by the people, which can be achieved through efficient communication to dispel misunderstandings and fake news about the party.
Although some parties have already moved ahead of Pheu Thai in popularity, Jakrapob said he believes that the capabilities of the party, its experience over many years and the abilities of its members can determine the future of the country.
