People's party leader, Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, announced today that they will field candidates in every constituency across the country in the upcoming general election, that he is confident that it will win a landslide and that it will form the new government.
He also said that the party’s election policies will be people-friendly and responsive to the aspirations of the people.
He accused the Bhumjaithai party of backtracking on its original position, regarding not requiring one-third of the votes of the Senate for the approval of a constitutional amendment bill.
He said he wants to ask caretaker prime minister Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai party, why they decided to vote against the resolution of the government whips, that only half of the combined votes of both the House and Senate should suffice, without the need for one-third of the votes of the Senate.
Even though the constitutional amendments bill has been dropped for now, the People party leader said he hopes that the massive support of the people in the next general election will enable the party to revive the bill and push it through parliament, to open the way for the writing of a whole new charter.
He went on to say he does not regret his party’s support of Anutin as prime minister, because the decision had been approved by his party’s members.
