A complaint has been filed with the government’s complaint centre, asking Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to investigate her father, Thaksin, who was seen wearing a white official uniform during the ceremony at which she was appointed prime minister on Sunday.
Serial petitioner Sonthiya Sawasdee claims that Thaksin, who was sentenced to a prison term for corruption, was also stripped of his police rank.
“It seems to me that Thaksin has no right to wear the white official uniform, usually worn by government officials at official functions,” he said.
According to the Royal Gazette, Thaksin was stripped of his police rank on September 8th, 2015 and had his royal decorations withdrawn on March 30th, 2016, because he was convicted of corruption by the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders.
Moreover, he attempted to escape punishment by fleeing the country.
According to PM Office regulations, concerning political appointees, officials sentenced to a prison term are no longer permitted to wear the official uniform.
