Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul admitted today that he and Newin Chidchob, de facto leader of Bhumjaithai party, went to see former prime minister Thaksin and his daughter, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, at the Ban Chan Song La mansion on Sunday.
He asked the media how they knew about the meeting before admitting that he had persuaded Newin to go with him, adding that the four of them talked about various issues, including the upcoming no confidence debate.
He dismissed speculation that the meeting was to clear the air over conflicts between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai, on constitutional amendments and the flagship entertainment complex policy of the Pheu Thai party.
Anutin denied that Bhumjaithai is at odds with Pheu Thai and said that he is in regular contact with Thaksin, either in person or by phone, because he is resourceful and has extensive experience.
