Former People’s party MP for Chachoengsao province, Jirat Thongsuwan, was sentenced to two years in prison today, after he was found guilty by the Criminal Court on charges of using falsified documents to evade conscription.
Jirat’s indictment followed a complaint, which was filed with the commander of the Territorial Defence Command, claiming that the ‘Sor Dor 43’ document he used to get an exclusion from conscription was falsified.
A subsequent investigation confirmed that the document was a fake and a complaint was lodged with Prachachuen police, ultimately resulting in his indictment.
Jirat denied the charges and fought the case in court, but he was found guilty as charged and sentenced to two years in prison, without suspension.
