Chartthaipattana Party leader Varawut Silpa-archa showed up at the extraordinary general meeting of the Bhumjaithai party today, possibly signalling the party’s intention to join the Bhumjaithai party to fight the next general election, expected in March next year.
Varawut was joined by a few MPs, among whom were Anurak Chureemas of Roi-et province, Samerkan Thiangtham of Suphan Buri, Panuwat Sasomsap and Supachok Srisukajorn of Nakhon Pathom and Nikorn Chamnong, the party director.
The group was greeted upon their arrival by PM’s Office Minister Paradorn Prissananantakul, Siripong Angkasakulkiat, spokesperson for the PM’s Office and Chada Thaised.
Varawut claimed that he had only come to the Bhumjaithai party today for a lunch. No one from either party directly stated, though, that Chartthaipattana has decided to join the Bhumjaithai party.
Chartthaipattana party won nine constituency seats and one party-list seat in parliament in the last general election.
Separately, former Pattaya mayor Sontaya Khunpluem and Piya Pitutecha, mayor of the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO), also arrived at the Bhumjaithai party head office to attend the meeting.
