Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will hold the first meeting of the new cabinet at Government House, immediately after the swearing-in ceremony before His Majesty the King at the Amporn Throne Hall scheduled to start at 5pm.

Cabinet secretary-general Mr. Thirapong Wongsivavilas said that the cabinet will discuss the coalition government’s policies, which will be presented to parliament by the Prime Minister on July 25th.

The Opposition has threatened to use the policy statement presentation to censure the Prime Minister and some of his cabinet members.

The Prime Minister, who is also the defence minister, said today (Monday) that he had already received a draft of the policy statement, but he declined to elaborate.

He also voiced support for amendment of several laws, without being specific what they are and whether they include amending the Constitution as demanded by the Democrat party, one of the coalition partners. He ruled out a censure debate during his presentation of the government’s policy.

“Presentation of government policy and voicing of opinions to make the policy complete are not a no confidence debate. They are two different issues. I respect everyone and treat everyone with honor,” said the prime minister.
