Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today that people scrambling for donated items at food banks must stop, describing it as totally unacceptable.

The Prime Minister, however, thanked donors for establishing the food banks to help their fellow countrymen and asked the beneficiaries of the charitable donations not to grab everything for themselves, but to think about the others who also need help.

Meanwhile, Thai PBS, in cooperation with the SCG Foundation, has started installing food banks at various locations in Bangkok, to help people who are being badly affected by business closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ten such facilities are to be installed and managed by Thai PBS and the SCG Foundation, and looked after by people in the community, to ensure the orderly collection of food items and other daily necessities by people in need.

The food banks are stocked with daily necessities such as rice, canned fish, vegetable oil, instant noodles, sugar, detergent, eggs, sanitary napkins and toilet tissue.
