Five Malayan softshell turtles were allegedly smuggled out of Kao Panso Forest Protection Unit, in the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, by 53-year-old Mr. Prakong Namphu of Ban Dong in the Ban Rai district of Uthai Thani on Friday, May 31st.
The turtle is on Thailand’s list of protected marine life, according to a Notification from the Department of Fisheries and the Wild Animal Reservation and Protection Act, B.E. 2535.
