A badly injured serow, a medium sized goat-like mammal, was found lying in a pool of blood near Wiharn Temple intersection in Tambon Nang Leuk, Muang District, Chumpon Province this morning (May 28).

On inspection by authorities, the approximately 5 year old, 50kg female animal was found to have wounds to her mouth, chin, head and the left front leg.

She was given emergency treatment for about an hour before being transported to Admiral Krom Luang Chumpon Khet Udomsak Wildlife Sanctuary in Chumpon for further treatment.

A serow is one of the 15 endangered species listed in Thailand as protected wild animals which cannot be traded or kept as pets.
