Phoenix dive boat’s managing director to be indicted Monday

The managing director TC Blue Dream Company which operated the Phoenix dive boat before it went down iin rough seas resulting in the death of 46 Chinese tourists will be indicted before the Phuket provincial court on Monday.

Pol Maj-Gen Thiraphol Thipcharoen, the Phuket police commander, said that the inquiry police officer in charge of the case would also ask the court for further detention of managing director Ms Woralak Ruekchaikarn pending investigation.

The suspect has denied the charge of recklessness causing the death of the other people filed against her by the police.
  Police said the inquiry officer would object to her request for bail.

Phuket governor Norapat Plodthong, meanwhile, said Sunday that all the 46 dead victims had been identified and 39 of them had been claimed by their families for funeral rites at various temples in Phuket.
 

Seven bodies were flown back to China by their families while the last victim is still stuck in the sunken boat.
  Efforts to retrieve the body have been hampered by rough sea and bad weather.  One victim is still being hospitalized.

The governor said that about 60 million baht in compensation had been paid to 39 families of the dead victims by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and by insurance companies.
