Passengers on THAI plane involved Tokyo airport incident return home

About 100 passengers on a Thai Airways International (THAI) aircraft, which was involved in a taxi-way incident at Tokyo’s Haneda airport yesterday (Saturday), have been arriving in Thailand yesterday and today, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

The CAAT said in a statement that THAI arranged for two flights, by All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, to fly some back to Bangkok yesterday, with the remainder to follow today.

The THAI plane collided with an EVA Airways aircraft on a taxi-way, damaging a wing on the THAI, leaving it unable to fly, said the CAAT.

Although there were no injuries among those on board the two planes, one of the four runways at the airport had to be closed for about two hours and it resumed operations at about 1pm local time yesterday.

The accident is now being investigated by the Japanese aviation authorities, said the CAAT.
